Especially at weekends, there’s a holiday feel about Greenwich as visitors
from near and far throng to and around the parish, jostling for pavement
and slowing traffic to a snail’s pace as they thread across the pedestrian
crossings around the central Market.
A wonderful slice of humankind, of all estates, nationalities, styles,
tastes and types: and Greenwich welcomes them with as varied a choice
of eating houses in one compact area as you’ll find anywhere in London.
RIP: please note Since GMT2000 first launched in 1996, the premises
marked RIP have ceased to operate, or have changed ownership,
management or type of cuisine, and in cases have ceased to exist as
buildings--all part of Greenwich's ongoing evolution. Out of fondness
for some of them, we have retained the original write-ups they had when
they were operational.
